How can an Agent help a user Apply for a Foreigner Travel Document?

This service allows foreigners to request an emergency travel document. The service is provided by the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration (DGIE) office. 

The processing time is 7 days and the price depends on the desired travel document.

 Prerequisites: 

  • Applicants should first contact DGIE before applying for this service.

  • Applicants should have a passport number.

  • Applicants should have a valid phone number, email address, or both. 

Follow these simple steps to help a user apply for a foreign travel document: 

  1. Visit www.irembo.gov.rw and log into your agent account.

  1. A small window will pop up. Fill in both your phone number and your password, then click login.


  1. Click the "new application" icon to start a new application.


  1. Under the Immigration and Emigration category, Click on the service link “Foreigner Travel Document”


  1. Click on Apply

  1. Fill in the Applicant Details including the applicant’s Name, desired travel document, and passport number.

  2. Click on Next to proceed. 


  1. Verify that the applicant’s information is accurate, enter their phone number and/or email address, check the verification box, and click Submit

  2. A billing number/ID (99….) will be generated for payment. Applicants can pay using MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, BK App, BK Branches, BK Agents, or pay online using VISA or MasterCard.

  3. NOTE: After applying and paying successfully via IremboGov, the applicant receives a feedback notification from the DGIE informing them to visit their office for further instructions about their application.
