This service facilitates the issuance of an emergency travel document to Rwandans or Rwandan residents living abroad, foreigners in Rwanda, or their children born in Rwanda, who have lost their travel documents and need to travel back home.
The processing time is 1 day, and the service is free of charge.
Prerequisites:
Applicants should have the following identification documents, where applicable.
Rwandan National ID number
Foreign ID
Passport number
Child application number
Applicants should have a valid phone number, email address, or both.
Optional attachments:
Proof of residence
Proof of Rwandan citizenship
Passport photo
Declaration of loss from police
Proof of voluntary repatriation

Note: Emergency Travel document is one way, please be aware that you will not receive a passport through this application.
Follow these simple steps to help a user apply for an emergency travel document:
Visit www.irembo.gov.rw and log into your agent account.
A small window will pop up. Fill in both your phone number and your password, then click login.
Click the “new application” icon to start a new application.
Under the Immigration and Emigration category, click on Issuance of an Emergency Travel Document.
Click on Apply to start an application.
Fill in the applicant details as prompted.
Fill in the Reference details.
Input the reason for the request, the destination country, and the residence details.
Upload the required attachments in the correct format and click Next.
Verify that the user’s information is accurate, enter their phone number and/or email address, check the verification box, and click Submit.
After successfully submitting the user’s application, they will receive an application number that they can use to track its status.
NOTE: Once the DGIE officer receives and approves the application, the user will receive their e-certificate.
