The National Identification Agency (NIDA) provides identification services, including national ID replacement, in case of loss or damage. 


The following are the most frequently asked questions by agents about national ID replacement: 

How much does an applicant pay for an application for a national ID replacement?

The first application for national ID replacement sent to the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) is free. After RIB approves, the applicant will pay Rwf 1,500. 

Who is eligible to apply for the national ID replacement?
Any Rwandan who lost or damaged their national ID.
What happens after submitting the first application to RIB?
The applicant waits for the RIB officer of the sector you selected to set an appointment. When they receive an appointment notification, they should visit the sector RIB offices for further processing. 
What do I do when RIB takes longer than expected to approve an application? 

You should advise the applicant to visit the RIB office selected for further processes. 

What happens after paying the billing number? 
After paying for the application using the billing number from the RIB officer, IremboGov will submit the application to NIDA. NIDA will dispatch the national ID cards to the respective sector, where they will be picked from. 
What should I do when a national ID number is not reflected?
You can share the national ID number with NIDA or the IremboGov support team for assistance.
Where does an applicant get their ID once NIDA produces it after the application for national ID replacement?
Once NIDA has produced a national ID, it can be collected in the sector chosen during registration.
