All motorcycles, private vehicles, and commercial vehicles operating in Rwanda must undergo emission testing, with the exception of full electric vehicles.
- Private (non-commercial) vehicles: Once a year
- Commercial vehicles: Twice a year
At the same Contrôle Technique centers that conduct mechanical inspections: Remera, Rwamagana, Huye, and Musanze, or any other mobile center.
If the vehicle fails, the applicant must carry out the recommended repairs and reapply for the test. The second visit will be charged at 50% of their original inspection fee.

Yes. All outstanding fines must be cleared before booking an inspection appointment.
You can help them apply online through IremboGov by selecting “Motor Vehicle Emission Inspection Appointment” under “Motor Vehicle Inspection,” entering their vehicle details, choosing a test center, and paying the inspection fee.
Yes. If their vehicle passes, they will receive an e-certificate.
They will need to book a new appointment through IremboGov and may have to pay the fee again.

The billing number is valid for one hour only. Applicants must complete payment before it expires. If the bill ID has expired, they will need to reapply.
