Rwandan nationality by acquisition on the ground of birth on the territory of Rwanda is applied by a person born to foreigners who were legally residing in Rwanda at the time of his or her birth and who have attained the age of majority by the date of application. Follow-up time is six months after the reception of the application. The service is provided by the Directorate-General of Immigration and Emigration ( DGIE). Prerequisites:
Applicants with passports should have an ordinary, diplomatic, or service passport.
Applicants should have a national ID/foreign /refugee ID, refugee travel document, CEPGL, laissez-passer, or any other form of identification.
Follow these simple steps to help a user apply for Rwandan nationality acquisition through birth on the territory of Rwanda.
Visit the Irembo platform at www.irembo.gov.rw and log into your agent account.
A small window will pop up. Fill in both your phone number and your password, then click login.
Click the "new application" icon to start a new application.
Under Immigration and Emigration, click on “Rwandan nationality by acquisition”
Select “the ground of application by birth on the territory of Rwanda” and click Apply.
Fill in the applicant’s details and identification document type, residence details, phone number, and email. Enter the applicant’s parent's names, residence details, etc.
Upload the required documents in the correct format.
Verify that the applicant’s information is true, enter their phone number and/or email address, check the verification box, and click Submit.
A billing Number/ID (88…) will be generated for payment. Click Pay.

Note:
Upon payment, the applicant’s application will be processed by DGIE. They will receive an email or SMS notifying them about any change in the status of their application.
Once the applicant’s Rwandan nationality is approved, the Rwanda Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration will notify them on how to pay for their granted nationality.
