How an Agent can help a user apply for Title Transfer-Succession.

This service allows the heirs of the deceased landowners to register the land in their names. It can be based on the authentic will, confirmation of the heirs by the family council, or a court decision. The National Land Authority (NLA) provides this service.


The processing time is 13 working days, and the service is free of charge


Prerequisites: 

  • Rwandans should have a national ID number and passport number for foreigners.

  • Rwandans and foreigners should have the land’s Unique Parcel Identifier (UPI).

  • A church/NGO/cooperative/professional association should have a name, a gazette number, an address, and a UPI.

  • A company should have a name, a TIN, an address, and a UPI.


Conditional attachments:

  • Death Certificate

  • A copy of a notarized will

  • Civil status certificate

  • Copy of passport

  • Confirmation of heirs issued by the sector

  • Court judgement


Follow these simple steps to help a user apply for Title Transfer-Succession: 

  1. Visit www.irembo.gov.rw and log into your agent account.

  1. A small window will pop up. Fill in both your phone number and your password, then click login.

  1. Click the "new application" icon to start a new application.


  1. Under the “Land” category, click on Title Transfer. 


  1. Select “Succession” from the drop-down menu.


  1. Read the service description carefully then click “Apply”.


  1. Select the Identification document type and enter the total percentage of land being inherited.

  1. Add details for the parcel, such as the Parcel UPI and its location. Include successor information, which may consist of the Successor Identification document number and their residence address.


  1. Add the Parcel’s Representative details including their Identification document type, civil status, his address.

  1. Select if the applicant possesses an authentic will.


  1. Upload the required attachments in the correct formats then click “Next”. 

  1. Verify that the user’s information is accurate, enter their phone number and/or email address, check the verification box, and click on Submit.

  2. An application number will be generated (B2….) so the user can track the status of their application.


Note:

  • Once the National Land Authority receives and approves the user’s application, they will receive a notification confirming their changes.
