How agents apply for authentication for an orphan's status.
This service allows citizens to officially verify and obtain confirmation of their orphan status from the Rwandan government. It issues an official orphan certificate that can be used to access legal assistance and benefits for orphans. The service is provided by the Ministry of Local Government ( MINALOC). This guide helps an agent apply for the service on the user’s behalf.
The processing time is 1 day, and the service is free of charge.
Prerequisites:
Applicants should have a Rwandan national ID or child ID for a minor.
A death certificate or court judgment document for the deceased parent(s) should be available.
Applicants should have a valid email address and/or phone number to receive notifications.
Follow these simple steps to help an applicant apply for authentication for an orphan's status.
Visit the Irembo platform at www.irembo.gov.rw and login into your agent's account.
A small window will pop up. Fill in both your phone number and your password, then click login.
Click the "new application" icon to start a new application.
Under Family Services, select “Authentication for an Orphan's Status.”.
Click "Apply" to start an application.
Enter Applicant Details. Select the user's identification document type (National ID or Child ID) and add their phone number.
Enter the Deceased Details including Nationality, Date of death and Cause of death. If the user wants to add another deceased parent click the "yes" option from the "Record another deceased parent" and fill in the prompted information to proceed.
Enter Processing Office Location.
Attach the death certificate or court judgment as supporting documentation, then click “Next”.
Verify that the user’s information is true; enter their phone number and/or email address, check the verification box, and click Submit.
The user will receive a confirmation SMS and/or email upon submission of the application and supporting documents.
Once the processing office approves the users application, they will receive their e-certificate via email or can download the orphan certificate from the Irembo platform.
