How Agents Can Apply for a Diaspora National ID Correction

This service enables Rwandans living abroad to apply for the correction of their National Identity Cards..The service is provided by the National Identification Agency (NIDA).

This service's processing time is 30 days, and the price depends on the reason for ID correction. 

Prerequisites: 

  • Applicants should have a Rwandan National ID number. 

  • Applicants should have a legitimate reason (date of birth, change of name, gender, name, and photo) to request this service.

  • Applicants should have a valid phone number or email address.


Follow these simple steps to help a user apply for a Diaspora National ID correction: 

  1. Visit the Irembo platform at www.irembo.gov.rw  and log into your agent account.


  1. A small window will pop up. Fill in both your phone number and your password, then click login.


  1. Click the "new application" icon to start a new application.


  1. Under Identification, click on “Application of National ID Correction”.



  1. Select “ID correction for Diaspora” from the dropdown menu.


  1. Click on Apply

  1. Enter the required Applicant details (ID number, reason for ID correction, place of collection, and processing office), 


Note

  • All reasons for applying for this service are free of charge, except for changes of names and photos, which cost 1500 Rwf.



  1. Upload the necessary documents. (The required attachments will vary depending on the reason selected.) and click Next to proceed. 

  1. Verify that the user’s information is accurate, enter their phone number and email address, check the verification box, and click Submit


Note:

  • Upon submission, the selected Embassy offices and National Identification Agency will process the user's application. The applicant will receive an email or SMS notifying them about any change in the status of their application.


  • Once the Application is approved, the applicant will receive a Bill ID that they can use to pay for the service using any of the methods provided in the “Payment options” section.


  • Once the user’s National ID application has been printed. They will be contacted by a Rwandan embassy to arrange for delivery or pick-up of their physical ID card.
