This service allows users to renew their permits. The application is received and processed by the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration (DGIE) office.
The processing time is 7 days, and the price depends on the type of permit.
Prerequisites:
Applicants should have document-type details (passport or other documents).
If the applicant is not sure about the Permit Type they are renewing, they are advised to contact the office of the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration on permit@migration.gov.rw or call +250 722 172 974 before applying.
Attachments differ depending on the permit type requested.
Applicants should have a valid phone number, email address, or both.
Follow these simple steps to help a user apply for the renewal of their permit:
Visit the Irembo platform at www.irembo.gov.rw and log in to your agent account.
Click the "new application" icon to start a new application.
Under the Immigration and Emigration category, click on Permits.
Choose the Request Type as “Renew permit,” and click on Apply.
Fill in the Demographic Details.
Enter the Request and Travel Details. If the user has dependents, fill in their Dependent Details as well.
Attach all the required documents in the right format and size. The attachments differ depending on the permit type requested.
Click on Next to proceed.
Verify that the user’s information is accurate, enter their phone number and/or email address, check the verification box, and click Submit.
If the permit renewal applied for is free of charge, the application will immediately be sent to DGIE’s system for processing.
If the permit renewal applied for is not a free permit, a billing number/ID (88…) will be generated for the user to pay.

NOTE: After applying and paying successfully via IremboGov, the applicant will receive a feedback notification from the DGIE informing them when they should go for their permit pickup at the DGIE office.
